Man Charged for Several False 911 Calls

By: Winnipeg Police Service

Between December 2018 and August of 2020, the Winnipeg Police Communications Centre received 47 phone calls to 911 (both Winnipeg Police Service and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service) claiming some sort of fictitious emergency. The reports were all determined to be false.

As a result of the calls, multiple emergency resources were dispatched, and investigations initiated, resulting in a financial loss to the City of Winnipeg of several hundred thousand dollars.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit began an investigation and on September 2, arrested a suspect.

Harley David Lee HARDING, 25, has been charged with:

- Public Mischief

- indecent Communications

Harding was detained in custody.
