Do You Know This Man? Call Police


WINNIPEG, MB. - The Winnipeg Police Sex Crimes Unit continues to investigate a number of sexual assaults that occurred between April and August 2021 on or around the Red River Trail System. This is the geographic area consisting of the west Red River trail from the Osborne Bridge, south along Churchill Drive, to the Elm Park footbridge at Jubilee Avenue.


The sexual assaults happened between the early evening and the early morning.


The victims have all been female and range in ages between 15 to late-30’s. In brief, these incidents involved the victims being grabbed from behind, pulled to the ground and threatened with a weapon.


On June 12 and August 9, the Winnipeg Police Service issued media advisories regarding the sexual assaults. There has been an increased police presence in the area as detectives continue to investigate extensively. No new incidents of this nature have been reported since August 8.


Winnipeg Police have received numerous tips to assist in the investigation. We wish to thank those who shared the advisories and provided information.


The Sex Crimes Unit investigators have obtained and are sharing surveillance video that shows a male person of interest. The male is described as wearing all black – including a black face mask around his chin.
