Winnipeg's 43rd Homicide

Winnipeg, MB - On December 24, 2020, at approximately 5:40 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the 500 block of Furby Street after an injured male had been found in a residence.

The male, an adult in his 30’s, was transported to hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced deceased.

Winnipeg Police provided clarity on the number of homicides in 2020. Constable Murray said, "We are often asked about the homicide number in Winnipeg; please note it is now either homicide 42 or 43, depending on interpretation. The WPS has investigated and released on 42 homicides to date. The June 2020 homicide of Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe is believed to have occurred in Winnipeg, but his body was found in Portage la Prairie, and the RCMP investigated his death. So if Reimer-Wiebe’s death is included, it is 43 – but his homicide was not a WPS investigation."

This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
