Armed Standoff in Winnipeg


Winnipeg Police Service Information Notice


On July 10, 2020, at 7:16 a.m., Winnipeg Police General Patrol members, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and K9 Unit, responded to the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue for a report of a male armed with a firearm inside a residence. The male had threatened two females with the weapon and was still in possession of it.


As police arrived, both females were able to exit the residence, and one turned over a firearm. The male remained inside the home and refused to comply with police.


At about 10:53 a.m., the male was safely taken into custody.


The 25-year-old man from Winnipeg remains in custody and is facing charges of:


- Pointing a Firearm (x2)

- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x4)

- Possession of a Weapon

- Fail to Comply with Probation Order

- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x4)
