Weapons and Drugs Seized by The Guns & Gangs Unit


WINNIPEG, MB. - During the evening of February 14, 2021, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit (with the help of the Tactical Support Team and West District officers) executed a search warrant at a hotel suite in the Sargent Park area.


Soon after, officers observed two suspects attend the hotel in a taxi cab but leave upon seeing police. The pair were followed to Sargent Avenue and Strathcona Street, at which time officers attempted to stop the taxi. A male suspect began throwing items out of the taxi’s windows, and upon the vehicle coming to a stop, he fled on foot. A female was taken into custody at the cab.


Officers pursued the male, and with the assistance of AIR1, he was found attempting to hide under a truck in the 1100 block of Strathcona Street.


The items thrown from the taxi were located and found to be approximately 75 grams of fentanyl (estimated street value of $15,000) and 8 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $800).


A search of the taxicab resulted in the seizure of numerous items, including the following:


- A .22 calibre sawed-off bolt action rifle

- 15 rounds of .22 ammunition with a magazine

- A can of bear spray

- A mobile phone

- A money counter

- $3,600 in Canadian currency

- A scale


The female suspect was found to be concealing 1.5 grams of methamphetamine.


Adam Channing Douglas Carr, a 33-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:


- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

- Possession of a Weapon

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x4)


He was detained in custody.


A 23-year-old female of Winnipeg faces charges of:


- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

- Possession of a Weapon

- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm


She was released on an Appearance Notice.
