McGillivray Fire Update


WINNIPEG, MB - June 30th around 1:00pm, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) received calls because of smoke at 2595 McGillivray Blvd. in the R.M. of MacDonald. The large black clouds of smoke could be seen across much of the city.


EThe R.M. of MacDonald fire department were in charge of the event and have other rural fire departments assisting in a mutual aid capacity.


911 continued to receive multiple calls and a compliment was sent to stage while a District Chief consulted with Incident Command from the R.M. of MacDonald. At 1:30pm WFPS was tasked with water supply, using a WFPS Engine to pump from a hydrant to a 2nd WFPS as a relay pump and providing water for on scene fire suppression operations.

The WFPS drone was requested at 8:24pm the pictures below provide a good look at the considerable amount of smoke. Authorities have said the smoke travelled south west away from the city for most of the event.
