We remember the Holocaust as the murder of six million Jewish people and hundreds of thousands of non-Jewish people by the Nazis and their collaborators.
Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, marking 76 years since the Allied troops arrived at the gates of Auschwitz.
This is what happens when hatred goes unchecked and there is a collective silence in our society.
It is our responsibility to make sure that the lessons of the Holocaust are not forgotten. We must continue to share the stories of the victims of the Holocaust and of the brave Survivors, many of whom have enriched the City of Winnipeg and our entire Country.
Today, with the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, I'm asking you to please share the #WeRemember hashtag.
