The City of Winnipeg’s Campaign Expenses and Contributions By-law No. 10/2010 addresses expense and contribution regulations. Here are some things you should know before donating:

Candidates can accept contributions only from individuals who are residents of Manitoba.

Contributions from businesses and unions are not accepted.

Contributions made are not tax-deductible for the contributor.

The contribution limit for candidates for Mayor is $1500.

Donations must be received by personal cheque or credit card.

All anonymous contributions are paid to the Senior Election Official to become part of the general funds of the City.
Election Contribution Rebates

Donations above $25 are eligible for a rebate from the City of Winnipeg.

The rebate is calculated as: (a) for a total contribution to one or more candidates of $300.00 or less, 75% of the contribution; (b) for a total contribution to one or more candidates of more than $300.00 but less than $1000.00, $225.00 plus 50% of the amount by which the contribution exceeds $300.00; (c) for a total contribution to one or more candidates of more than $1000.00, the lesser of: (i) $575.00 plus 33.3% of the amount by which the contribution exceeds $1000.00; or (ii) $1000.00. Contribution forms will be sent to donors by the Official Agent of Kevin Klein.

To receive the rebate, the donor must complete the Rebate Application form and mail the application by December 26, 2023 to:
