Winnipeg Man Wanted by Police

Members of the Homicide Unit are asking the public for their help with locating a suspect in a domestic homicide. On April 11, 2020, the Winnipeg Police Service began investigating the death of a woman who had been transported to hospital from a residence in the 500 block of Ottawa Avenue earlier in the day. The deceased was identified as Julie Racette, a 34-year-old female. Over the course of the following week, the investigation, which included a post-mortem examination, determined that she had been the victim of a homicide. On April 20, 2020, investigators obtained a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of Wayne Leslie Melnychuk, a 42-year-old male of Winnipeg, for manslaughter.


Melnychuk is also currently listed as a missing person. He is described as Caucasian in appearance, 5’7” tall and has a medium build with brown hair and brown eyes. The public is cautioned not to approach Melnychuk. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
