Councillor Kevin Klein (Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood) is calling on Provincial Justice Minister Cullen, and Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba Executive Director Zane Tessler to conduct a full and complete investigation into allegations of Police Misconduct as a result of a security screening.
Mayor Bowman has not taken leadership to address the unsubstantiated and divisive accusations of misconduct that are eroding the public trust of elected officials and members of the Winnipeg Police Service.
Winnipeg City Councillors, Santos, Allard, and Rollins have publicly insinuated or directly accused The Winnipeg Police Service of misconduct.
These are serious allegations that cannot be investigated internally or by LERA. They deserve immediate action to determine who is accountable and what is the truth.
This incident, that has led to accusations of misconduct and unprofessionalism directed at the Winnipeg Police Service, calls for a public review by the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba.
As a community leader, I feel obligated to do what's necessary to restore public confidence in our elected officials and the Winnipeg Police Service.
