Manitoba Re-Opening

Councillor Kevin Klein

WINNIPEG - Today Premier Brian Pallister announced the gradual return to our new normal during a press conference. The opening and reductions in restriction will be slow and guarded. This is important to continue keeping us safe as the actions of our Provincial Health Office has done so well, proven by the numbers in Manitoba.

Many of the critical public health measures and travel restrictions remain in place. Priority elective surgeries have been restarted, diagnostics screening will resume, and some non-essential businesses will reopen but must limit occupancy to 50 per cent of normal business levels or one person per 10 square metres, whichever is lower. Services, businesses and venues that are permitted to open next week:

  • non-urgent surgery and diagnostic procedures;

  • therapeutic and medical services;

  • retail businesses;

  • restaurants – patio/walk-up services;

  • hair salons;

  • museums, galleries and libraries;

  • seasonal day camps; and

  • outdoor recreation and campgrounds.
