WINNIPEG, MB. - Three weeks, July 28, 2021, Councillor Kevin Klein (Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood) made an official request of Mayor Bowman, newly appointed CAO Michael Jack, and Jason Shaw, who is responsible for Emergency Management. Klein requested a directive to require city employees with direct public contact to be double vaccinated.
Councillor Klein said, “I have not received a reply from any of the gentlemen I sent the request. No phone call, no questions, nothing.” “I was hoping we could have had a conversation about the right approach and requirements, but once again, leadership has failed at City Hall to collaborate with elected officials.
Since July 28, 2021, the Federal Government and many other cities across Canada have announced similar requirements for public servants. However, the leadership of Winnipeg is ignoring the official request from Councillor Klein.
